Fireworks Safety Guidelines
Ensure a safe and joyous celebration for your family and neighborhood by following these essential fireworks safety precautions.
DO's — Safe Practices
- Always purchase genuine, branded Sivakasi green crackers from authorized factory dealers.
- Store fireworks in a cool, dry place away from heat sources and electrical equipment.
- Always ignite crackers outdoors in an open ground away from buildings, vehicles, and dry grass.
- Keep a bucket of clean water and sand nearby for emergency fire extinguishing.
- Use an agarbatti (incense stick) or sparkler with a long handle to ignite aerial fireworks from an arm's distance.
- Wear cotton clothes and secure loose hair while bursting crackers.
- Supervise children at all times while they are lighting sparklers or flower pots.
DON'Ts — Never Do These
- Never attempt to relight or inspect a dud firework that did not ignite properly. Wait 15 minutes and pour water over it.
- Never ignite crackers inside closed rooms, staircases, or balconies.
- Do not wear loose, flowing, or synthetic silk/nylon clothes while handling fireworks.
- Never hold burning fireworks in your hand or throw them towards people or animals.
- Never carry crackers in your pockets or close to body heat.
- Do not use glass bottles or metal tins to place rockets before ignition. Always use a stable launcher pipe.
- Never leave used sparkler wires or burnt shells on pathways where children might step on them.
